What Is Abyssinian Oil?
Abyssinian oil is extracted from the seeds of the Crambe abyssinica plant, native to the Ethiopian highlands. This lightweight oil has an exceptionally high content of erucic acid, giving it unique slip and spreadability properties that set it apart from other plant oils.
The oil has a dry, silky texture that absorbs rapidly into skin without leaving an oily residue. Its molecular structure closely resembles the natural lipids in healthy skin, making it highly compatible with the skin barrier.
Abyssinian oil is often used in hair care for its ability to add shine without weight, and in skincare for its non-comedogenic moisturising properties. It provides excellent emolliency while remaining light enough for all skin types.
