What Is Lauramide Dea?

Lauramide DEA is a fatty acid amide derived from lauric acid and diethanolamine. It functions as an antistatic agent, cleansing agent, foam booster, and viscosity controller in cosmetic formulas. It is a common ingredient in shampoos, body washes, and cleansers.\n\nThe Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel concluded that Lauramide DEA is safe as a cosmetic ingredient in the present practices of use and concentration. The CIR report noted that Lauramide DEA is rapidly metabolized to lauric acid and diethanolamine (DEA) in the skin. The DEA is then rapidly absorbed and excreted. The CIR Expert Panel also noted that Lauramide DEA is not a skin sensitizer or irritant. The CIR report did not find any evidence of carcinogenicity or genotoxicity.
