Low Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid

Low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (LMW-HA) is a form of hyaluronic acid that has been processed to reduce its molecular size, typically below 50 kDa. This smaller size allows it to penetrate beyond the skins surface to deliver hydration to deeper layers.

While high molecular weight HA sits on the skin surface creating a moisture barrier, LMW-HA can reach the dermis where it provides deep hydration and may stimulate the skins natural hyaluronic acid production.

For optimal hydration, many modern formulations combine multiple weights of hyaluronic acid to hydrate at various levels of the skin.
