What Is Sodium Lauroamphoacetate?

Sodium lauroamphoacetate is a surfactant (cleansing agent) that is also used as a lather agent (foam booster). An amphoteric surfactant, it is considered one of the gentlest cleansing agents in cosmetics and is often used in formulating cleaning products for babies.

Sodium lauroamphoactate is often used with other cleansing agents, where it helps boost their foaming properties and provide an extra measure of stability to a cleanser’s texture.

It may be plant-derived or synthetic. Typical usage levels range from 1–30%, depending on whether it is the primary or secondary cleansing agent.
