What Is Syn-Ake?
Syn-Ake (dipeptide diaminobutyroyl benzylamide diacetate) is a synthetic tripeptide that mimics the effect of waglerin-1, a peptide found in temple viper snake venom. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve signals to facial muscles.
By interfering with muscle contraction at the neuromuscular junction, Syn-Ake helps reduce the appearance of expression lines and wrinkles, particularly those caused by repeated facial movements like smiling or frowning.
Clinical studies have shown that Syn-Ake can reduce wrinkle depth by up to 52% over 28 days of use. Unlike Botox injections, it does not completely paralyze muscles but rather softens the intensity of contractions, resulting in a more natural appearance.
Syn-Ake works best on dynamic wrinkles and is most effective when applied consistently to areas prone to expression lines. It can be combined with other peptides like Argireline for enhanced results.
This powerful anti-ageing peptide helps prevent and reduce fine lines and expression wrinkles around the eyes, mouth, and forehead. It works by reducing muscle contraction frequency through decreasing acetylcholine binding at neurotransmitter receptor sites. By reducing these muscle contractions, it helps prevent and diminish the appearance of expression lines.
Clinical Evidence & References
Syn-Ake is a synthetic peptide that works by modulating nerve signals to facial muscles, reducing the intensity of muscle contractions that drive expression lines. Clinical evidence supports its mechanism: studies have documented reductions in wrinkle depth of up to 52% over 28 days with consistent application. The ingredient appears most effective on dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated facial movements, and produces a softer result than paralytic treatments since it does not completely inhibit muscle function.
The evidence base is reasonably established but has notable limitations. Most published studies are of modest scale and duration, typically 4 weeks or less. Efficacy appears variable across individuals, and consistent daily application is required to maintain results. Long-term safety and sustained efficacy beyond 8–12 weeks remain less well characterised. Syn-Ake is best regarded as a preventative or maintenance option for expression lines rather than a treatment for severe static wrinkles.
