Benefits for Your Skin

How It Works

Tocopheryl nicotinate is the ester (chemical blend) of tocopherol, a form of vitamin E, and nicotinic acid, a form of vitamin B3. This vitamin derivative has antioxidant properties, meaning it fights pre-ageing free-radicals. Studies also indicate tocopheryl nicotinate could have skin brightening, soothing, and even UV-protective abilities (though is it not an FDA-approved sunscreen active ingredient). The independent Cosmetic Ingredient Review has ruled tocopheryl nicotinate is safe as used in cosmetics. Current maximum usage levels of tocopheryl nicotinate are 0.1% in rinse-off formulas and 0.001% in leave-on products. The rating for this ingredient pertains to the fact that there isn’t as much published research about it as there is for pure forms of vitamin E and niacinamide.
